Daughter Kristin (what a fantastic daughter) is 28 and married to Kevin (looks like Wally Cleaver in Leave it to Beaver) and has a 4 year old daughter, Kellie (what a sweet heart!). Kristin works at a pre school as an assistant director while Kevin runs the Amsterdam Cafe, in Laguna Niguel, a business that we bought together 5 years ago. Since I know nothing about the coffee business I'm regarded as the 'silent partner'. This makes Kevin quite happy I believe. Unfortunately we are surrounded by STARBUCKS coffee houses, so the competition is pretty intense! Last time I was in Rocky River was in 1967 right after I graduated from Miami U., a whopping 36 years ago..just amazing how time seemed to fly by! I have great memories and suspect that the Rocky River I once knew and loved has greatly changed. Life, fortunately has been generally very good. Survived two stints in Vietnam on a Minesweeper. Married my lovely soulmate in Arcadia Ca in 1971 and received my MBA in 1972. Since then have been working in the corporate finance field with plans to retire in two years (this assumes the old portfolio recoups from the brutal market we have experienced over the past three years!). Have lived with Mary in Laguna Hills, CA. since 1971.  A beatiful community next to Laguna Beach. Built a stable in the backyard when my daughter Kristin became interested in horses. Currently have a reining horse, name is Cuffy, and have had him going on 13 years.  He's a real sweetheart with a calm dispostiion, aka, doesn't spook easily! My grandaughter loves to ride him and nearly every weekend I take him out on the local trails...great way to unwind from the frenzied corporate world. KIDS:  Wendy graduated from MSU with a degree in Psychology. She has been married to Andrew for 10 years.  He is an Emergency Physician working in Saginaw, Mi. They have 2 children, daughter Kennedy, who will be 3 in November and Nicholas, adopted from Russia in April 2003, who will be 2 in September. Wendy is a wonderful mother and enjoys being home with her children.  I feel very fortunate that she is my daughter and my friend. Nicole graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Family Studies. She is employed as the Community Outreach Education Coordinator with LACASA, a non-profit Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault organization. She and her husband, Jeff, have just completed building their own home, literally, from the ground up. They have done a wonderful job and have learned to work well side by side. I couldn't be more proud of both of them.  Again, I feel fortunate that I can call Nicole my friend. B.J. graduated from an Adult Transition, Special Education Program in June.  He is wheelchair bound and speaks with a communication device.  He is a wonderful young man.  He gave an amazing eulogy at his Father's memorial service and an inspiring speech at graduation. Our family has learned much about what is important in life from this determined member. I am looking forward to seeing all of you soon.  Many thanks to the committee for all your hard work. What I have been doing:  Life has taught me many things. The most important at this time of my life, is not to take anything for granted.  *Hold loved ones close, family and friends alike. Tell them how much you love them and how important they are to you. *Appreciate each day, each sunrise and each sunset.  *Do it today, whatever it is, don't wait until tomorrow or a better day.  There is no better day than today.  I am trying to learn a new way of life since the death of my husband, Nick. My family is close and the grandchildren are a source of great joy. I do a lot of gardening and am thinking of trying to paint (that should be good for a laugh since I don't have one artistic bone in my body. Maybe I will take piano lessons. At least I know I can do that a little.  Seeing old friends in a few weeks will also give me joy.
